                                            Welcome Home Alpha Trooper !

Welcome to the Alpha Troop Association. You are already a member. You earned your membership by
serving with the Troop. It doesn't matter if you were an Airborne Ground Cavalryman that served with the
Nomads in Vietnam during 1965. It doesn't matter if you were an Air Cavalryman that served with the Troop
in Vietnam during 1969 to 1972 after the Troop converted from ground to air. It doesn't matter if you
served with the Troop at Fort Campbell between 1972 and 1989. It doesn't matter if you are a veteran
of the Gulf War, OIF ( Operation Iraqi Freedom ) or OEF ( Operation Enduring Freedom ) or currently
serving with the Troop. You are all members of the Alpha Troop Association.

The Association is comprised of current and former members of Alpha Troop and the attached
332nd Transportation Detachment during 1968-1972. In Vietnam, the Ground Cavalry compiled one of
the finest combat records of any Cavalry Troop in country from 1965-1969. If you are a "lost" cavalryman,
please contact us. In 1969, the Troop converted from ground to air as part of the 101st Airborne Division
change to Air Mobile. From 1969-1972, the Troop established a reputation as the Air Cavalry Troop with
the best reconnaissance record in Vietnam. If you are a veteran of this era and haven't already, contact us
and quit being another "lost " cavalryman. From 1972 through 1989, the Troop was at Fort Campbell.
While you maintained a high readiness posture as part of the then RDJTF (Readiness Deployment Joint
Task Force ) which later became Central Command, you honed your skills to fight a European war and
transitioned to Air Assault. The Gulf War in 1990 refocused the Troop to desert warfare. Your results
were outstanding. In 2003 and again in 2005, you went to Iraq as part of the OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom )
contingent. Your keynotes were pride and professionalism. Now you are serving in OEF
(Operation Enduring Freedom) in Afghanistan with that same can-do attitude that so reflects the pride
and professionalism in performance. Don't be a "lost" Trooper -
contact your Association.

The Association holds reunions on a bi-annual basis. In 2008, the reunion was in Nashville, Tenn.
from 18-22 June. The location was selected to share time with the current Troop. Unfortunately,
an Afghanistan deployment made a visit rather impractical. Reunion activity pictures can be seen
via the link below. Planning for the 2010 reunion will begin in January 2009 with time and location TBD.
If you have input or suggestions, contact us. Look for additional information in the Quarterly newsletters.

Don't ever forget,

If you ain't Cav, you ain't ---- !!!
